A great place for Mum & Dad
reviewed on: 08/19/2017 by AnonymousI looked all over Kingston for both Mum and Dad. With lots of research, time and try outs. We finally landed on Royale Place and we are so happy as a family with our decision! The food was Delicious, Dad was so happy that he wanted to go back the next day for lunch. The staff in the dining room truly are passionate about seniors, as I looked around and saw them knowing everyone's name and what they like, and worked hard to make each resident smile. This place works hard to make the seniors feel accommodated and putting the family at ease that Mum and Dad are well taken care of. Brandon was very helpful on the move in process and questions and I felt he was very upfront, honest and overall cared about my parents. Their care has been great too, as Dad is still very independent but Mum with dementia needs some assistance, the care team has been great in keeping them together and helping Mum. She feels well taken care of by them. Kudos Royale you truly are leading the way in Kingston for retirement and it is evident that hard work the staff and management must do.
Defnitely worth considering
reviewed on: 07/07/2017 by Daughter-in-lawThe Good: This is a very attractive residence with great facilities and a diverse social program - a cruise ship on land. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. They seem to make a point of quickly learning each resident's name and take time to interact with and listen to them. I have also been impressed with the ethos around offering as close to a home-like experience as possible, including tea, coffee and goodies on constant tap. My mother-in-law's room overlooks Kingston's ever-busy Princess Street but the sound insulation is great and the noise does not disturb her sleep. Pricing relative to other facilities in the area is competitive. The Not So Good: My mother-in-law's only (though frequent) complaint has been with the calibre of the food (cold, tough, drowned in gravy). Recent staffing changes (July 2017) will hopefully result in much-needed improvements. I have observed some disconnect between the front desk and back office but this has been more of a minor irritant rather than a real problem.
