Clean but total lack of care towards the end
reviewed on: 10/22/2018 by RMy grandma has stayed with magnolia Glen for 8 years and enjoyed it. The place is always clean and well maintained. Unfortunately her health has recently begin to decline and she's had to move into the assisted living area of Magnolia Glen. Firstly, she had to hire movers to move her bed and furniture to another floor. No help offered. Secondly, and most infuriating, she has not felt well enough to go to the dining room. Its a lot of work for her mobility speaking and her breathing is labored. I tell you the God's honest truth, her room is down the hall from the dining room, maybe 40 feet. Magnolia Glen said they'd have to charge additional to bring her meal to her room. This is assisted living and she pays 7 thousand dollars a month to be there. Mind you she's paid that for 8 years. You do the math. Not too far from a million. I find this to be criminal. The woman is towards the end of her life and the lack of care is appauling in my opinion. I'm her youngest grandson and trust me, I'd like to raise hell. My wife and family are in various healthcare positions, and I'm told this is par for the course at most facilities. Disgusts me. Wake up America.
Grateful for Magnolia Glen
reviewed on: 11/11/2020 by Popoff KathleenI have so many things to be grateful for...Magnolia Glen is a wonderful place for my folks. I’m most impressed on how they have kept my parents safe during a global pandemic! 🙏🏻😷🙏🏻 The staff is courteous. They place is beautiful. The building is clean. My parents are well-fed! Their needs are being met. They are also entertained! It takes a lot of planning and thought to pull all of these tasks off safely. I’m so impressed. 💕❤️💕
Feeling at home at Magnolia Glen
reviewed on: 10/28/2020 by Sally & Bill LazarMy husband & I have lived at Magnolia Glen for almost two years. We looked at five other retirement communities in Raleigh before choosing - had several meals, wandered the halls, spoke to other residents, & employees, & found MG a very friendly place. In fact, we found that the residents really used the lovely common areas such as the living room, library, & game room. There were always residents sitting & talking, reading, doing a jigsaw puzzle, or playing cards - they weren’t just pretty rooms!. This is what we wanted - a home-like surrounding, & it has become home & other residents have become like family. The decor is influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright - mission-style comfort, although getting a little tired from age, but plans are made to update furnishings & carpets in the next 2 years. Covid-19 has slowed this a bit, & the past eight months have been stressful for everyone, but our director, his staff, & all of the associates have done a wonderful job of keeping us safe. We've been entertained by musicians having concerts in the parking lot; grandchildren decorating cars & trucks & driving thru the parking lot, waving to grandparents; “state fair” activities with food trucks entertaining for two days; a resident art show; a visit by miniature ponies; but most importantly, our director has brought a testing routine to Magnolia Glen, making all of us feel safer & more comfortable with one another. It is home for us!
Fantastic
reviewed on: 09/02/2021 by Norman Aamodt, Jr.My parents arrived at Magnolia Glen last November. At least once a week my Mom makes a comment about how wonderful the people (residents and staff) are and how everyone is kind and caring. My parents are thriving. They feel safe and are happy to be part of such a fantastic community.
Transition to Assisted Living Made Easier at Magnolia Glen
reviewed on: 08/19/2021 by AnonymousIt is a nice option for assisted living. The family is following up with the staff for care needs for your loved one. Some of the food options don't accommodate all the dietary restrictions for low sodium diets.
