Wonderful Organization
reviewed on: 12/05/2016 by MaureenI can't begin to tell you what an wonderful experience my Step Dad had a Meredith Bay Colony club. The staff was wonderful. He lived their for 3 1/2 years and moved from the "Inn", into the "Garden". I have to say while he was at MBCC I never worried. I always felt the folks did a great job caring for him and others. They had plenty of activities, and a beautiful out door patio for the residents to enjoy. it breaks my heart that he had to leave.
Wonderful place -
reviewed on: 10/14/2016 by GeorgeMy parents were some of the first folks to move in when it opened 7 years ago. My Dad was ill and the staff was wonderful in helping him and supporting my Mom. After my Dad passed, my Mom's Multiple Sclerosis advanced to the point where she is confined to a wheel chair. She needs nursing assistance a few times a day and the nursing staff is flexible and very helpful. The Colony Home Care division is dedicated to keep independent living folks in their home and it is working well! The atmosphere in the dining room and common rooms is extremely friendly. I can not think of a better place to have my Mom. The monthly fee is extremely reasonable and the meals are quite good. The waitstaff is extraordinary, friendly and works very well with the folks that have special dietary needs and/or difficulty remembering. Superb people.
Deepest Gratitude for the Staff of The Gardens at MBCC
reviewed on: 07/12/2019 by Nora Tracy PhillipsI write this to those of you who, like me, feel guilty and scared at not being able to care for your loved one who is suffering from ever-developing memory loss any longer. You want him/her to be honored and respected, on top of being reliably and responsibly cared for, but you've heard the nightmare stories of elderly people in care facilities--especially those with memory loss--who are neglected or worse. I was once you. My mother just died of Alzheimers Disease after having lived two years in "The Gardens" at Meredith Bay Colony Club. I can not tell you how un-dyingly grateful I am for having stumbled upon this care facility and above all, for the entire staff in The Gardens who I think of as the angels who cared for her as i was not able to, in exactly the ways I wanted her to be cared for. They gave her joy and dignity and care--as only people who give those things are naturally compelled to, not just because they're employed to do so. Her care WAS expensive and the facility itself is neither a 4-star hotel nor a state-of-the-art hospital, but the people with whom my mom was in contact made it so my sister and I don't have a single regret--only intense gratitude--about our having made our way to MBCC for my mother's final years.
Don’t leave your parent here!!!
reviewed on: 07/16/2020 by RJ ILg. My mother is still stuck there. My father passed away on Saturday night. It is Wednesday. I have not heard from anyone. Jim Murray ? Used to run the place. I have called, texted his personal cell phone. It would not be so disconcerting but my mother still lives there! zero star if possible. Thank God I live close enough check on her. Otherwise I would be calling the BBB, (my next step, and the police) elder abuse.
Buyer Beware
reviewed on: 08/02/2020 by S. McGeeI’m taking my dad out of there as soon as possible! When we were considering moving my dad to The Club I never had to wait for a return call text or email, but once the checks were signed that all stopped. My dad feels like he was misled by the people in charge. There are few of the original employees left and a parcel of young kids have taken their place. The ones that have stayed are the ones that you can depend on and they do a great job holding the place together; they wear their hearts on their sleeves and my dad says he can tell they care about the members but dad doesn’t think they are as happy as they used to be. He doesn’t want to have a bunch of kids taking care of him while he ages in place. They are on their phone, are loud, and many have never done this before. The “big cheese” doesn’t care enough to return a call to the people who pay him, in fact he seems to have lost interest in Meredith Bay all together. Buyer beware!
