Community Reviews
It was about the same price as the one we chose, but they only one meal a day instead of three.
reviewed on: 01/01/2014 by FamilyIt was about the same price as the one we chose, but they only one meal a day instead of three. So you had to cook for yourself. It was huge so I didn't feel it would be as personable as where she is. They had full kitchens. The rooms were a little bigger but it wasn't as friendly because there were all sorts of different buildings.
Perfect place to live in retirement!!
reviewed on: 07/27/2018 by Helen GowanI know many people that live at Bishop’s Glen. I visit there often and have been in several apartments both Independent and assisted living. Their apartments are beautiful, cleaned and so big! What strikes me each time I visit Bishops Glen is how happy and friendly the residents and staff are. I have eaten there on many occasions and I can tell you the food is top notch with a great selection. I have been to several events and activities and had so much fun!! The grounds are beautiful, they have 2 lakes with park benches all around, so wonderful. I am only in my 60’s but when the time comes to retire and have fun I will be at Bishop’s Glen.
Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.
reviewed on: 03/26/2019 by AnonymousAlthough there are some caring people working here, there are also some who are just there for the paycheck. I have witnessed patient alarms going off and no one responding for 20 minutes. Housekeeping is severely lacking. I have to always ask for toilet paper for my mother, and her floor is always sticky. When I complain, I am told that "I" should call maintenance! The food is barely warm, bland, and nothing like the food served in the independent area...although we were promised it is the same. (Walk through both and just look at the menus!) All nurses and aids are rotated between the independent, assisted, and memory care units, so it is difficult to form relationships with the staff. Many of the staff we never see again so the turnover rate must be very high. Sometimes it is difficult to find anyone in the Abbey buildings, other times, there are many staff members around, usually on their phones or sitting in the parking lot on a smoke break. All of this may be why their cost is a bit lower than all other facilities in the area. Our mother is in a 'shared' apartment.
Not recommended at all
reviewed on: 08/06/2015 by AnonymousThis facility is not located in a desirable area, or not in an area that would equate with the costs, although the outdoor appearance is very nice, and there are plenty of activities for the more independent residents. The residential buildings do not smell inviting. Our family member was in assisted living, and there were serious problems with cleanliness and unsanitary conditions, problems that went ignored after repeated requests that they be taken care of. We were also concerned over lack of security, and anyone allowed to go in and out. Other problems included staff members asking half cognizant residents to donate to yard sales, which was very inappropriate and was likely what resulted in loss of necessary items such as silverware. There was also a major problem with communication with family members. I would not recommend this facility.
Very Depressing!
reviewed on: 03/17/2018 by SarahBishops Glen Nursing Home is in a very dated building. The carpets are worn and dirty when you enter the lobby. The receptionist does not even greet you. Once you go upstairs you come off the elevator to a very old looking and outdated nursing home. The nurses station is right there, but none of the nurses look up and say hello or ask to help you. The admissions lady stated that they would be renovating, but so far have failed to do so. The bathrooms look about 30 years old and dirty. The dining rooms are very depressing. They mix residents that can feed themselves with residents who need to be hand fed by staff. It is very upsetting to others. The staff seems very unhappy and do not even attempt to be friendly. The pictures on the wall are old. The grounds are okay, but too large for most. They recently had many fire and safety violations that had to be corrected along with many other issues through ACHA.
